Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Big Bear Electric Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and safeguards information when you visit bigbearelectric.ca (the “Site”) or submit an estimate request.

Effective date: August 21, 2026

1. Information we collect

When you submit an estimate request we collect your first and last name, phone number, email address, the city the work is in, the category of work, and any description of the job you choose to add. The description is optional; the other fields are required for us to reply.

Where you have accepted analytics cookies, we collect technical information through Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity: browser and device type, operating system, approximate location, referring URLs, the pages you view and how long you spend on them. Our security provider also processes your IP address to protect the Site and the form from automated abuse.

We do not collect payment details through the Site, and there are no accounts to create.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your estimate request and arrange a quote, a site visit, or the work itself.
  • Contact you about work we are quoting or carrying out for you.
  • Keep the Site and the estimate request form secure.
  • Measure how the Site is used and improve it.
  • Meet our legal, insurance and regulatory obligations as a licensed electrical contractor in British Columbia.

We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we do not send marketing email.

3. Cookies and tracking

The Site uses cookies for security and, with your consent, for analytics through Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. No analytics cookie is set before consent is given. Our Cookie policy lists every cookie the Site sets, what it is for and how long it lasts, and explains how to change your choice.

4. How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We disclose it only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. The companies that run this Site and our office systems on our behalf handle your information under our instructions, and only to provide those services. They cover site delivery and security, form processing and storage, email delivery, and the software we use to schedule and quote work.
  • Subcontractors. Where another trade is needed to complete your job, we pass on only what they need in order to attend the work.
  • Legal requirements. Where disclosure is required by law, or in response to a valid request from a public authority or a regulator such as Technical Safety BC.
  • Business transfers. If the business is sold or reorganised, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

Some of these providers process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of the country it is held in.

5. Data retention

We keep estimate requests for as long as we need them to reply, to carry out any work that follows, and afterwards for as long as our records obligations require. Electrical work carries permit, inspection and warranty records that outlast the job itself. Requests that do not lead to work are deleted once they are no longer useful. Analytics data is held for the retention period configured in Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.

6. Your privacy rights

Canadian privacy law (the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act federally, and the Personal Information Protection Act in British Columbia) gives you the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent to the uses described here, subject to legal and contractual limits.
  • Complain about how we have handled your information.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 10. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can raise it with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

7. Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated effective date.
