Flood-damaged equipment on Sumas Prairie gets replaced
The 2021 flood submerged electrical equipment across the prairie, and the standard for that is settled. Panels, receptacles, motors and cable that have been under water are replaced rather than dried out and re-energised. Rebuilds since have placed services, panels and critical equipment above the recorded water line, which is the least expensive flood protection available.
Clearbrook and the west side are still largely on 100A
The 1960s and 1970s housing through Clearbrook and Abbotsford West was built on 100A, and much of it has since added a basement suite. That puts a second kitchen, range and dryer on a service sized for a single household, which is why most of these projects begin at the panel.
A greenhouse operation is a commercial-scale system
Pumps, ventilation, supplemental lighting, cold storage and packing equipment together bear no resemblance to a residential load. Service sizing, three-phase distribution and outage priorities all belong in the same plan, and each of them is expensive to get wrong and revisit later.
