The owner
Steve Thornton
Steve grew up on a farm in the Fraser Valley, went through Chilliwack Senior Secondary and finished a degree at UVIC. He moved into construction in 2014, into electrical work from there, and has more than 20,000 hours in the field.
Big Bear has worked out of Chilliwack since 2020 and incorporated in 2023. Contractors, business owners and homeowners across the valley call us for panel and service upgrades, EV chargers, backup power, lighting, smart home and security, and full rough-in through final inspection.

2014
Steve Thornton enters construction
Steve begins working in the construction industry after graduating from UVIC, eventually moving into electrical work and accumulating thousands of hours of field experience.
2020
Big Bear Electric founded
Big Bear Electric begins operating in Chilliwack, serving residential and commercial electrical clients throughout the Fraser Valley.
2023
Big Bear Electric Inc. incorporated
After roughly three years in business, Big Bear Electric formally incorporates as Big Bear Electric Inc.
Since 2023
Company expands its capabilities
The company grows beyond conventional electrical work into areas such as EV charging, backup generators, home energy systems, service upgrades and larger residential and commercial projects.

Big Bear now serves homeowners, builders and businesses across Chilliwack and surrounding communities.
